Fair Use

1. Fair Use may be used by referencing the Best Practices Guide, which will help you figure out if you are protected by fair use while creating your film. Fair Use can be used when illustrating or giving examples. It may also be used when commenting or critiquing. Fair use may also be used when launching a discussion. Fair Use is so important for documentary makers because it is sort of their guidelines to keep them out of trouble. It tells them what is acceptable when using material that is without permission or payment. Documentary makers especially need these guidelines and protection when creating film about something that is not entirely their own story. They are reporting or filming an actual event, person, company, ect. that is already existing with some sort of copy write material.

2. I love this example! This guy was on the news being interviewed because his sister was almost attacked. I feel that these new “autotune the news” mashups are becoming really popular. These creators do such a great job because it looks like this guy is actually singing it and it fits really well with his “character”. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QzRZWpeofic
