Let’s pretend I’m going to create a video on American cultures overly-sexualized nature, and its effects on pre-adolescent teens. In order to do this, I would need to use clips from different TV shows, magazines, and other pop-culture materials that would allow me to critique and analyze how American culture is progressively becoming more sexualized. For instance; I might take a reality show on MTV and analyze the age of viewers and how pre-adolescent teens are affected by that. In order to properly document it I would have to show some scenes from the show within my documentary. Furthermore, lets say that I want to take different magazines targeted at pre-adolescents and critique how the front pages have changed over the past ten years; becoming more sexual in nature. I would claim fair use to show the documents within the film.
