The reason I chose to do a Brett Farve- Energizer Bunny Mashup is because he is a hot topic right now and many have different opinions about him. Brett Farve is over 40 years old and he just keeps going and going and going. I thought it was clever to pair Brett Farve clips with videos of the Energizer Bunny to state that he just won’t quit. I decided to go from Farve in his glory days with the Packers, to him retiring, and then to him giving the Vikings all he had. I used the Bunny-Darth Vader clip to state that he was converted over to the dark side (any team other than his own, not necessarily the Vikings). Then I used the interview of Farve as the final clip because he will be remembered for more than just beating all 32 teams, he will also be remembered for all of the flip-flopping he did. I justify my mashup as fair use because of my original thought behind it. I used other clips that were not my own, but I spun them in a way that was original and with new meaning. I transformed the idea of the Energizer Bunny being correlated with batteries to it being correlated with Brett Farve’s performance and choices. People may watch the mashup and think differently of Farve and his need to keep playing, or they may think it was a spin of what they already thought about him. I think my mashup could hold up in court for Fair Use because it was a completely original idea and use of clips.
I think this a great example of a mash-up! You really transformed the content of the Farve clips- I really liked the way to put the clip in where he said he was retiring and put it right next to a clip of the Energizer bunny. This is fair use because it really does transform the football clips and it gives you new understanding. It's also kind of a satire.
ReplyDeleteI love this! I don't think you could have picked a better analogy. Favre has been in the game for so long and is obviously having a hard time giving up. Great job!
ReplyDeleteI definitely expect that this would hold up in court because of the message it is sending. The battery would not be advertised as a human so it obviously is sending a completely different message than the original.
This is funny, although I am a fan of Farve and the Vikings it is very true! He will keep on going. Nicely done.

ReplyDeleteI think your mashup with Brett Favre and the Energizer Bunny is hilarious. I myself just think he needs to retire, but that’s my opinion. Not everyone is like the Energizer Bunny and keeps going and going and going. Next time I would give a little more information regarding Brett Favre, maybe add how old he actually is and he is still playing in the NFL.
